In the Styrian Transport Association one standard tariff applies for all public means of transport. For this purpose, Styria is divided up into tariff zones. The price of the ticket depends on the number of zones travelled and the length of time the ticket is valid. All lines of the Transport Association can be used without restriction in the zone in which the ticket was bought and during the period of validity – when changing to means transport offered by other companies you therefore do not need another ticket.
If you would like to know what a trip costs, use the help function of the zone plan and the tariff table:
- Counting zones. First you need to count how many zones lie between the point at which you go on board and the point at which you get off the means of transport using the zone plan. A location at the boundary to an adjacent zone is still considered part of the zone you travelled through. If you do not know in what zone your destination lies in, please use our online search.
- Selecting the time of travel. Now it is for you to determine how long your ticket should be valid. The period of validity is from one hour (1-hour pass) to one year (annual pass).
- Reading the price. The number of zones and the time of travel will tell you in what line/column of the rate table you will find your fare.
When buying a ticket in the vehicle, at the railway station counter or from the ticket machine, simply request the desired ticket and route. When using a 10-zone ticket, calculate the number of required zones according to the above instructions. At railway stations you will also find a list with the zone number for most destinations right next to the ticket validator.
